1) Turn Off Your Laptop & Unplug All Cords:
- Immediately shut down your laptop completely.
- Disconnect the power adapter, battery (if removable), and all peripheral devices (USB drives, external monitors, etc.). This ensures safety and allows the laptop to cool down.
2) Inspect Vents and Fan for Blockage:
- Locate the Air Vents: These are typically found on the sides, back, or bottom of your laptop. They often look like small grilles or slits.
- Visually Inspect: Look for any visible accumulation of dust, lint, pet hair, or other debris in and around the vents.
3) Clean the Cooling System
Cleaning is often the most effective solution for overheating caused by dust buildup.
- Use Compressed Air:
- Acquire a can of compressed air (available at electronics stores).
- Important: Hold the can upright to prevent propellant from being sprayed onto components.
