Method 1: undervolting If your system is running hot, undervolting may be the solution for you. It limits the voltage of key components like the GPU or CPU to improve temperatures and prevent thermal throttling. You can undervolt your CPU in a couple of steps.
Step 1: Open your browser and search for an application called ThrottleStop. Download and install it.
Step 2: After you've installed it, you will see a basic dashboard. Click on Five, then unlock adjustable voltage.
Step 3: Decrease the offset gradually until you start to experience destabilization, and then save, but don't save on startup. In the event of system failure simply restart your computer.
