Modified on Mon, 23 Jun at 5:28 PM

1) Go to System Settings > General > Time Machine.

Turn it on and choose the disk.

Click Back Up Now.

  2) Check for macOS Updates

For macOS Ventura or later (including Sonoma):

Click the Apple menu  (top-left corner).

Select System Settings.

Go to General > Software Update.

Wait while it checks for updates.

If an update is available, click Update Now or Upgrade Now.

Enter your password if prompted.

Follow on-screen instructions.

For macOS Monterey or earlier:

Click the Apple menu .

Choose System Preferences > Software Update.

Click Update Now or Upgrade Now if available.

  3) Connect to Power and Wi-Fi

Make sure your MacBook is plugged into power.

Connect to a stable Wi-Fi network.

Some updates can be several GB in size, so ensure enough storage.

  4) Install and Restart

After download, your Mac will restart.

Installation may take 15–45 minutes, depending on the update.

Don’t close the lid or power it off during installation.

  5) Update Mac Apps

Open the App Store.

Click Updates in the sidebar.

Click Update All or update apps individually.

  6) Verify the Update

Go to Apple menu > About This Mac.

Check the macOS version under your Mac’s name.
